XRCS [Withdrawn] CD 960.2.9 remove VSE 2-section option_17-041

This RC has been withdrawn by the CDC 21Sept2016

This suggestion has not been recommended.

RC#: 17-041
Rule/Article: 960.2.9
Proponent: Combined Driving Committee
Date: posted 7June2016, revised 27July2016, corrected 5Aug2016 to match 17-040

see also 17-040

Current Wording: (in italics, second sentence) At ADS-recognized events with Section A, VSE entries in Training and Preliminary Divisions may compete on a shortened course. VSE entries in Intermediate and Intermediate-II Divisions will use the full course. When Section A is 1 kilometer or less, it may be driven on the track of the Walk Section and the Walk Section be omitted entirely.

New Wording: At ADS-recognized events with Section A, VSE entries in Training and Preliminary Divisions may compete on a shortened course. VSE entries in Intermediate and Advanced Divisions must use the full course. (revised text to match proposed changes in 17-040, 5Aug2016)

[delete When Section A is 1 kilometer or less, it may be driven on the track of the Walk Section and the Walk Section be omitted entirely.]

Reason for Change: Remove reference to Intermediate-II and remove the option of a two-section VSE Marathon Course. The incidence of a two section Marathon at a CDE is almost non-existent. This option is currently requiring a lot of data space on the Omnibus Entry Form for no real reason.

This was brought forward by the CDC and obviously is “Recomended” by the committee. This option for VSEs is the only reason, at this point, to use a lrge amount of data in the new Omnibus on-line system. It causes us to ask each Organizer how many sections are expected in each division. The original question in the Omnibus was valid, as we had a five section Marathon still in the Rule Book. This option, from committee research, seemed to be used only once or twice in the last year, yet, we must ask all ADS organizers to fill in the number of sections. The CDC is populated by a number of Pro-VSE members, doing our best to improve and support this rapidly growing group.
