Current Wording – CD-Article 960 The Course.Marathon:

960.2.9 Speeds at ADS-recognized Marathon competitions:
Note: The Organizing Committee, with the approval of the Course Designer and Technical Delegate, has the right to lower speeds and distances to suit the weather, terrain, footing, the experience of competitors, or the size and/or condition of the animals.

At ADS-recognized events, VSE entries in Training, Preliminary and Intermediate divisions may compete on a shortened course. VSE entries in ADS-Advanced (name change to Intermediate-II effective 01Jan15) division will use the full course. When Section A is 1 kilometre or less, it may be driven on the track of the Walk Section and the walk section omitted entirely.
