Current Wording – CD Appendix A. 7. C
Distance between obstacles must not be less than 250 m for Training and Preliminary divisions, and not less than 500 m for Intermediate and Advanced division. Distance between VSE-only obstacles may not be less than 250 m for all divisions.
Suggested Wording
Distance between obstacles should not be less than 250 m for Training and Preliminary divisions, and should be not less than 500 m for Intermediate and Advanced division. Distance between VSE-only obstacles may should not be less than 250 m for all divisions. The Technical Delegate may grant an exception.
Reason for change
To eliminate the fixed distance requirements and to bring this rule in line with the CDE rule 961.3.4 which uses the word should and provides for a TD exception. Also – there was no RCS in 2013 that allowed this rule to be changed.
