Current Wording – Article LO3.2.c

A Recorded Combined Driving Judge may officiate alone, or be President of the Jury at any Combined Driving Event, DT or Arena Trials at the Training, Preliminary or Intermediate Levels.

Suggested Wording

A Recorded Combined Driving Judge may officiate alone, or be President of the Jury at any Combined Driving Event, DT or Arena Trials at the Training, Preliminary, Intermediate or ADS Advanced levels.

Reason for change

A Recorded Combined Driving Judge must be President of the Jury before applying to be a Registered judge.  Now that more shows are offering ADS Advanced, they must hire a R CDJ which means less opportunity for r CDJs to be President of the Jury.

We note that this RCP has been assigned to the LOC, but the CDC would like to take this opportunity to weigh in as well. The CDC’s position is that Large R judges are required to judge ADS Advanced, now known as Intermediate II. Our competitors at that level deserve that level of expertise. This is noted in Appendix CD-H.

The ADS LOC does not recommend this RCS. We agree with the CDC that a POJ for ADS Intermediate 2 needs to be a “R”. The RCS as written opens up the possibility of a newly minted “r” with minimal experience being placed in a role that they are not experienced enough to handle.
