Current Wording – Article CD964.6.1
Athletes may stop for repairs to carriages or harness or for any other reason beyond the athletes’ control, anywhere on the course other than while negotiating an obstacle, without incurring penalties, other than loss of time.
Suggested Wording
Athletes may stop for repairs to carriages or harness or for any other reason beyond the athletes’ control, anywhere on the course other than while negotiating inside an obstacle, or between the trot or walk only marker located outside the exit gate of the last obstacle and the finish of section B without incurring penalties, other than loss of time. (See article 960 6.1).
Reason for change
The current wording does not address stopping past the trot or walk only marker or within 30 m of the last obstacle. Also the term “inside an obstacle” is more appropriate than “while negotiating an obstacle.”

May 16, 2014While I can agree with the intend and clearer wording of the suggestion, I believe we really should not make any changes to any of the FEI text. Accordingly such changes would need to be proposed to the FEI and come from them if they agree. We should only make ADS amendments where absolutely necessary. I don’t see this as one that would fall into that need.
