Current Wording – Article CD964.4
Should one or more Horses break into a canter within the last 300 m before the finish and is not corrected within 5 seconds the Athlete will incur 1 penalty point for every occurrence. If the break continues, the Athlete will incur 1 penalty for every additional completed period of 5 seconds.
(The balance of this article is not affected by this RCP and should remain unchanged.)
Suggested Wording
Should one or more Horses break into a canter within the last 300 m before between the trot or walk only marker (located outside the exit gate of the last obstacle) and the finish of section B, and is not corrected within 5 seconds the Athlete will incur 1 penalty point for every occurrence. If the break continues, the Athlete will incur 1 penalty for every additional completed period of 5 seconds.
(The balance of this article is not affected by this RCP and should remain unchanged.)
Reason for change
The last obstacle can be within 300 m of the finish. As written we could have no cantering to or in the last obstacle. The trot or walk only marker will move with the location of the last obstacle thereby maintaining a 30 m space to come down to the trot after exiting the last obstacle.

May 16, 2014While I can agree with the intend and clearer wording of the suggestion, I believe we really should not make any changes to any of the FEI text. Accordingly such changes would need to be proposed to the FEI and come from them if they agree. We should only make ADS amendments where absolutely necessary. I don’t see this as one that would fall into that need.
