Current Wording – Article CD960.6.2
Between the last obstacle (or 300 m) and finish, pace must be trot or walk only. The athlete will accumulate one penalty point for each 5 seconds the turnout is not at the trot or walk.
Suggested Wording
Between the last obstacle (or 300 m) and finish, pace must be trot or walk only. Between the trot or walk only marker (located outside the exit of the last obstacle) and the finish of section B the pace must be trot or walk only. The athlete will accumulate one penalty point for each 5 seconds the turnout is not at the trot or walk from this marker to the finish. The athlete may not deviate from the course by stopping, circling, zigzagging, or leaving the tract in any other way from the trot or walk only marker to the finish. 10 penalties will be accrued for each occurrence.
(See articles 964 3.1 and 964 4)
Reason for change
Current wording does not allow for stopping at the 30 m outside the last obstacle when it is less than 300 m from the finish. Also included the penalty for ease of reading the rule.

May 16, 2014While I can agree with the intend and clearer wording of the suggestion, I believe we really should not make any changes to any of the FEI text. Accordingly such changes would need to be proposed to the FEI and come from them if they agree. We should only make ADS amendments where absolutely necessary. I don’t see this as one that would fall into that need.
