August 4, 2013How did I miss that we have a rule for hitching and unhitching? Why do we have a RULE for something that is personal practice and will vary based on the harness, the vehicle and the horse. I don’t think we should have a rule for this at all. But I guess the proposal to eliminate it will have to wait until next year.
I oppose the rule change as shown because I think it is dangerous. When unhitching, I always undo my traces LAST. There is no way I would undo them before the wrap strap.

August 4, 2013I agree it is a personal preference. I also undo my traces last. I oppose this rule change as shown.

August 4, 2013I agree. the sequence for unhitching is incorrect. Traces should be last. This will likely be changed when the comment period is over. Be advised: This rule only applies to Putting to classes. It is not a rule for hooking and unhooking at any other point or place at a Pleasure show.

August 28, 2013I disagree with the proposed change. I see no need for ADS to be so
prescriptive in the hitching/unhitching sequence. Who will enforce this?
This kind of thing has no place in the rules — it’s more of a basic
training issue. Let’s please not go down this path.

August 30, 2013On behalf of Audrey Bostwick:
Yes – Why is unhitch before hitch? You have to put a horse to before you can take it out.
