Current Wording – Article 63 Timing
- The timing method must be clearly explained in the prize list.
- The course designer should take into consideration the terrain and road and path surfaces when calculating times allowed. It is the responsibility of the technical delegate to make adjustments when weather conditions dictate.
Suggested Wording – Article 63 Timing
- The timing method must be clearly explained in the prize list.

- Suggested speeds are 8.7 mph (14 kph) for horses, 7.5 mph (12 kph) for Large ponies,
6.8 mph (11 kph) for Small ponies, and 5.6 mph (9 kph) for VSEs.

August 28, 2013If there is a change to the pony sizes in other parts of the rule book, then there should be a reference to VSE, Small, Medium, and Large ponies here…with appropriate speeds. There is a significant difference between small and large pony sizes. I would think having 11 kph for Medium Ponies and 10 kph for Small Ponies would be more applicable.
