Current Wording – Article 125 Date Application

Any Advanced Level Combined Driving Competition must become a member of United State Equestrian Federation (USEF) before approval will be considered. Combined Driving Competitions are governed by Part VIII of these rules.

Suggested Wording – Article 125

Any national Advanced Division classes at Combined Driving Events must be approved by and licensed by the United State Equestrian Federation (USEF) . Advanced division classes at Combined Driving Events are governed by USEF rules. Organizers may offer ADS-Advanced classes (see Article 904.3.4.) at any ADS-recognized event.

Organizers may offer ADS-Advanced classes (see Article 904.3.4.) at any ADS-recognized event providing they are not also USEF recognized.

If advanced level combined driving is governed by USEF rules, it should be up to the USEF to make the requirements for membership. The sentence about USEF membership doesn’t really relate to the ADS approval of dates.

The substance of the change could be accomplished by changing the wording slightly.

Any Combined Driving Events including national Advanced Division classes governed by United States Equestrian Federation rules must be approved by and licensed by the USEF before being approved by the ADS. Organizers may offer ADS-Advanced classes (see Article 904.3.4.) at any ADS-recognized event without the approval of the USEF.

NO, part of the reason for ADS advanced is to avoid some of the fees. Absolutely NOT.

  5. hoofnit says :

This is a USEF issue, not an ADS issue.

  6. keithy says :

I do not support this change.
ADS recognized events are run under ADS rules not USEF rules.

Comment on behalf of Audrey Bostwick:
No – puts another layer of paper work on competition management and increase of competition cost on USEF non-mambers.
