In order to deliver the rulebook in a number of formats and with live links, the rules committee has decided to convert the rulebook from Microsoft Word to Adobe InDesign. The initial phase of this is complete and is available for review. It is our intent that this initial release have no changes other than a few word/phrase consistency issues, a clickable Table of Contents and live links, i.e. when a reference is made to another rule, clicking on the reference will show that referenced rule. Most PDF readers support a ‘back’ function to show the referencing rule again.

The Rules Committee requests that the ADS membership to review this new format and to post comments below or send them to the rules committee. The new PDF is draft only and contains a watermark on each page denoting it as such, use of this version of the rulebook should be limited to personal review and not for the purposes of a protest.

The draft rulebook can be found here: ADSDraftRulebook2013.pdf.

I like the live links. With so many people downloading the rule book to tablets etc. this will be a great improvement.

Comment on behalf of Ann McClure:
I very much like the new adobe format  of the rules. It’s much easier to read and locate a specific rule. I did find when I wanted to move by page number that it was off by 3 pages and this also then applied when I asked a page to print.

    I am using Mozilla Firefox.

Comment on behalf of Audrey Bostwick:
Agree – all officials information should be in one place, easily accessible, preferably in the rule book.

I support this change. Having the links for references will be invaluable for officials. Competitors too!
