Proponent: Jeffrey Morse
Status: 13Mar17 received; 26Apr17 posted and sent to committee. Recommended by the Pleasure Driving Committee (posted 25July17.) Final recommendation for BOD (no changes)

Current Wording: Bridles should fit snugly to prevent catching on the vehicle or other pieces of harness. A throatlatch and a full noseband are mandatory. A full noseband is defined as a noseband fully encircling the nose. Flash nosebands are strongly discouraged in pleasure driving classes. The use of gullet straps is acceptable.

New Wording: Bridles should fit snugly to prevent catching on the vehicle or other pieces of harness. A throatlatch and a full noseband are mandatory. A full noseband is defined as a noseband fully encircling the nose. Flash nosebands and straps of any kind other than curb straps or chains, reins, bridle cheek pieces connected to the bit, are strongly discouraged in pleasure driving classes. The use of gullet straps is acceptable.

Reason for Change: To discourage the introduction and use of non-traditional bitting arrangements, many of which circumvent correct training practices in the sport of Pleasure Driving.
