NEW

973.1.6 An Oxer will be composed of two pairs of cones in a straight line. The distance between the first set of cones and the second set will be between 1.5 and 3 meters, at the option of the Course Designer.The maximum penaltirs per oxer is three penalties, for hitting one to four balls. The first set of cones will have the number of the obstacle, the second set will only be marked with red and white flags.

973.1.6.1 A maximum of five oxers are allowed in a Cones course.

Note that the current ADS 973.1.6 thru 973.1.8 will be renumbered as 973.1.7 thru 973.1.9

    My only comment on this is that it means more equipment/supplies for an organizer, in order to properly mark/flag this obstacle. I don’t know that I’d include this obstacle in a course for that reason.

    Nice to have a new option for a cones course. There is no requirement for an organizer to have more equipment/supplies, but many venues already have these materials and I like how it can make a cones course more interesting. This option is much nicer than the complicated “Z” or “N” multiple obstacles that few people use any more.

    Very nice to have some more options and while this can cause needing more equipment, it is an option but could be used in place of a 2nd zig zag, etc.
